On Tuesday, November 13th, A California man was sentenced to 30 months in prison and ordered to pay back over $800,000 for an elaborate timeshare scam. (Orlando Sentinel)

He was arrested earlier this year on March 16, 2018. He was then sent to Orlando, Florida to face charges of fraud in front of a federal court. The case was USA VS Nazer and he faced a maximum sentence of 20 years. It was investigated by the US Postal Service.

The case was filed in Orange County, Florida in a federal court. He was arrested in California and sent to Florida to face trial. They confiscated his two passports issued by USA and Saudi Arabia when they arrested him.

Over a period of years between 2011 and 2015 he had set up companies in five different states. He recruited and trained people to cold call timeshare owners. They would claim to have buyers for their timeshares. They also required the timeshare owners to pay thousands of dollars in fees to get their timeshares sold.

Apparently they never had any intention of ever selling or transferring any timeshares. Yet, they offered a money back guarantee if the deal fell through. None of the timeshare owners ever got a refund. No timeshares were ever sold. A timeshare scam at its worst.

He had set up at least these nine companies across the country with the sole purpose of defrauding timeshare owners:

  • Vacation Sellers Services, Inc., a Florida corporation
  • U.S. Property Consultants, Inc., a Nevada corporation
  • Tricorp Property Solutions, Inc., a Delaware corporation
  • Highpoint Consulting, Inc., a Nevada corporation
  • United Premier Global Solutions. Inc., a Texas corporation
  • The Keycorp Group. Inc.. a Delaware corporation
  • Horizon Global Services. Inc., a Nevada corporation formed under the pseudonym Christopher Bailey
  • Regency Consulting Group. Inc., a Wyoming corporation formed under the pseudonym Paul Smith
  • Crescent Group Associates, Inc., a Delaware Corporation

According to one of the press releases, there may be more indictments to come in this case. (Inside the Gate)

IF you are approached with an offer for your timeshare that sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Timeshare scams crop up almost daily. Be on your guard and ask a lot of questions. Do your homework.

The reason timeshare scams flourish is simple: there are thousands of timeshare owners who are desperate to get rid of their timeshare. They have exhausted all attempts to get rid of their timeshare and have had no success. So they are easy to persuade if a good offer comes their way. Even if it sounds too good to be true.

The most reliable way to unload your timeshare is to put your trust in a timeshare resale broker. They are held to a high level of accountability. They have regular continuing education and training. They also have the experience required to get your timeshare sold and closed. You may not get what you paid for your timeshare but you can get rid of the maintenance fees by getting it sold – even at a low price.

Don’t fall for a timeshare scam. Use a timeshare resale broker.
