What is Starwood up to, if anything?
If you own a timeshare at a Westin or Sheraton timeshare resort, you know that Starwood Vacation Ownership is the parent company. What you may not know is that Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc is their owner. Next, what was just revealed on Zacks.com is that “One of Red Lion’s close competitors, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. (HOT – Analyst Report) also embarked on an asset light model. Starwood remains committed to reducing its exposure to owned real estate and timeshare businesses. During its third quarter, Starwood sold one St. Regis Aspen in accordance with a long-term management contract for gross proceeds of $70 million.” (source)
Is a Westin or Sheraton timeshare resort next? Harborside Atlantis? Westin Kierland Villas? Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort in Cancun? What would become of your Starpoints? Have any owners heard from Starwood that your timeshare resort may be the next to be sold?
Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc announced two days ago the adding of Boston’s Liberty Hotel to it’s “St. Regis and The Luxury Collection”. (Business Wire)
So, Starwood sells their St Regis in Aspen, picks up one in Boston, and then predicts selling off a timeshare? Who said that and what is the orgin of that news? Or is it just a rumor. Somebody has to know. I know timeshare owners with Starwood would like to know!
