Does anyone know what happened to this timeshare development plan? It just seems to have disappeared!
A Flushing, New York, based developer has authorized their development division to start preliminary designs for a 1,400 unit timeshare resort that will be called Zena. Show-Lain Cheng, the developer who purchased the nearly 20 acres for $13.4 million, plans on building out Zena at a cost of about $500 million.
Zena will be located near Sea World Orlando on International Drive along with several other well known timeshare resorts. Last month as I drove along International Drive, I noticed quite a bit of land available for development. But, just because the land is there, for sale, and able to be developed, should it be? Timeshare development in and around Orlando and Kissimmee seems to be at a saturation point. So, another 1,400 timeshare units? It is a matter of supply and demand. Sure the demand is high, but the supply seems to be massive. Just ask those who already own a timeshare around Orlando and Kissimmee. With such a large supply of timeshares available for sale by the timeshare developers, individuals who want to sell their timeshares face a lot of competition.
