I constantly hear about timeshare buyers and sellers angry or confused over a $1 timeshare for sale, or even the timeshare you can’t give away.
True there are some timeshares far better than others and some are more of a liability than an asset.
There is no such thing as a free or $1 timeshare. Just to get a timeshare into your name there will be transfer fees, maintenance fees, and fees you’ve probably never heard of. Plus, the long term expense of owning a timeshare is certainly not free. Just ask the owners at The Point at Poipu who were zapped with thousands of dollars each in special assessments.
The other side of the coin is that for pennies on the dollar you can buy a timeshare on the resale market and save tons of money. Thousands! You can buy timeshares in Maui, Las Vegas, Orlando, Italy, or even Thailand if you want! Or how about a 50% discount on Marriott timeshares, HGVClub Hilton timeshare, Bluegreen, Diamond, Disney, Hyatt, or any of the other big timeshare developer timeshare resorts? You can do it when you buy timeshares on the resale market.
The timeshare deals are there. They may not be free or cost you as little as $1 but they will save you a pile of cash when you buy resale not retail.
Free timeshare? No.
A great timeshare deal? Yes.
