500 Million Reasons Marriott Timeshare Owners Need To Take Action!

Marriott timeshare owners need to take notice of what happened last week. 500 million accounts with Marriott were hacked and stolen. What they are saying is that the reservation system for Starwood resorts was hacked. Names, addresses, passport numbers and “other data” were stolen.

What they are not saying is troubling. What about credit card and other financial information? And should Marriott timeshare owners not worry because they say only Starwood property owners and/or guests were affected? They don’t say.

More information is starting to trickle out. Investigators are saying that an intelligence agency in China may be responsible for the hack. AND, internet security specialists are saying it should have been caught sooner.

Marriott has announced they will reimburse any customers who have had to replace their passports due to fraud. Is that the best Marriott can do? The potential for fraud is massive and Marriott is saying you’d have to prove the fraud on your accounts was because of this breach.

A class action lawsuit is already underway representing those who have been affected.  It seems like Marriott is putting an unnecessary burden of proof on those whose personal and financial information was stolen. Not good!

Both Marriott and Starwood have huge numbers of accounts. But 500 million? The entire population of the US is 325 million. So what are the chances you are affected? Pretty damn good.

If you have ever stayed at any Marriott hotel in your life you need to be proactive and not wait for Marriott to do something. At least you should closely monitor all of your accounts and watch for any suspicious activity. Change or cancel whatever you need to to ensure your information and money is safe.

And if you own a Starwood or Marriott timeshare, there’s a high probability your information has been stolen.

Be proactive. Don’t wait for something bad to happen to you.

Marriott is far more negligent than they are letting on. They don’t want to admit it. At least not this early on in the investigation. Maybe down the road they will be more forthcoming with help to their guests and timeshare owners.
