The maintenance fee was too high. When I first bought the timeshare the annual fee was about $500 a year. I could handle that. But after a few years the fee had nearly doubled to $950. Other timeshare owners had the same complaint of skyrocketing maintenance fees. So, I sold my timeshare.
I didn’t use it like I used to. My children were “out of the nest” and on their own. We never could coordinate our family vacation to include them. It seemed pointless to go by myself when I had this big timeshare at a luxury resort. So, I sold my timeshare.

There was a stigma attached to owning timeshare. I felt I was duped when I bought the timeshare. They made so many promises to me that never materialized. They said “you can exchange it for Hawaii!”, “it is a great investment!”, “your fee will not go up” and on the story went.
