5 Reasons I Sold My Timeshare

The maintenance fee was too high. When I first bought the timeshare the annual fee was about $500 a year. I could handle that. But after a few years the fee had nearly doubled to $950. Other timeshare owners had the same complaint of skyrocketing maintenance fees. So, I sold my timeshare.

I didn’t use it like I used to. My children were “out of the nest” and on their own. We never could coordinate our family vacation to include them. It seemed pointless to go by myself when I had this big timeshare at a luxury resort. So, I sold my timeshare.

I never got the trade I wanted. This really got under my skin! No matter what I requested in exchange, I never got the timeshare I wanted for my vacation. I tried different times of the year, different locations, and different sizes of timeshare units. Still, I had no success in getting what I was told I could get. I found it was just easier to sell my timeshare and book my vacations on my own.

I learned I could rent a timeshare for the cost of the annual fee. Thanks to a little research on the internet I found that I could rent the same timeshare for close to the same amount of the annual maintenance fee. This angered me as well! After all, I paid well over $18,000 for my timeshare but non owners could rent the same timeshare for less than $1,000 a week. I felt I got ripped off. So, you guessed it! I sold my timeshare.

There was a stigma attached to owning timeshare. I felt I was duped when I bought the timeshare. They made so many promises to me that never materialized. They said “you can exchange it for Hawaii!”, “it is a great investment!”, “your fee will not go up” and on the story went. I just had a bad experience in buying timeshare in the first place. So I was glad to sell my timeshare and be done with the whole unpleasant experience!

I could probably name a few more reasons why I sold my timeshare, but those are the big ones. I’m also glad I chose a timeshare resale broker to sell it for me. They got the job done right.
