Disney Attractions We Remember

smallworldWith the closing for refurbishing of It’s a Small World (Opened: May 28, 1966) we are reminded of other attractions we enjoyed for many years but are now gone.

Studio Backlot Tour, one of the theme park’s original attractions. The last day of the attraction was Sept. 27, 2014.

The sorcerer’s hat at Disney’s Hollywood Studios park at Walt Disney World. The structure is being removed after sitting in a prime spot in the park since 2001.

The Richard Petty Driving Experience and the Exotic Driving Experience at Walt Disney World Speedway closed in August 2015.

pettydrivingMagic of Disney Animation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios last day was July 12, 2015.

DisneyQuest will close in 2016 to make way for the NBA Experience.

Soarin’ closed for refurbishment from Jan. 4, 2016 until summer 2016.

The landmark water tower and the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show will close April 2.

lightsmotorsactionThe Maelstrom ride opened in 1988 at the Norway pavilion at Epcot. It will be replaced by a “Frozen”-themed ride at a future date.

Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride closing represented 1 of the Magic Kingdom’s original rides: Sept. 8, 1998.

ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter attraction at Magic Kingdom closed in 2003. It was replaced by Stitch’s Great Escape!

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea — 1994

Skyway carried guests through the air and across Magic Kingdom until 1999.
