Hurricane Rita has now weakened to a tropical storm. Still, the resort areas of Cancun, Riviera Maya, and Playa del Carmen were prepared for a category 3 hurricane. A local AP reporter interviewed tourists from all over the world who said they would now watch the storm from their resorts or rental homes. Thousands of tourists had already evacuated the region because of the severe threat such a storm could bring.
Only slight damage and torrential rain has been reported so far. Thankfully the Cancun timeshare resort area will be spared major damage from Hurricane Rita. That will make everyone happy!
Some of the finest timeshare resorts in the area include Golden Shores & Crown Paradise, Royal Caribbean, Club Regina Cancun at Westin, The Royal Islander, Club Internacional de Cancun, and RHC/Park Royal Piramides.
