Branson, MO, is well known for a number things. With 30 timeshare resorts in the area they capture their fair share of attention as well. Unfortunately last week Branson timeshare bad news took the front stage. The Better Business Bureau published a warning to the public to be wary of sales tactics and other underhanded practices of timeshare resorts around Branson.
Quickly picking up on the report, television news stations and all the local newspapers ran stories on this problem. The criticism by the BBB made a huge impact in the news in Branson.
So what is the source of Branson timeshare bad news?
In the last three years the Springfield, MO office received some 925 complaints about timeshare sales problems including high pressure tactics, poor customer service, and confusing contracts.
As is the practice with many timeshare resorts the prospects were attracted with offers of free meals, tickets to shows, and other prizes. However, unlike the reputable timeshare resorts in the industry, what they found was many hours of enduring high pressure sales people taking turns on them, contracts that were confusing and no time to read them, and poor customer service – no return calls, no answers.
Those making the complaints report being told the offers were good “today only”, and that timeshares were a great investment. They also complained they never received copies of contracts, free tickets and other prizes never materialized, and felt they were deceived every step along the way.
Some of the better known timeshare resorts in Branson include Holiday Hills Resort, Marriott’s Willow Ridge Lodge, Wyndham Branson at the Meadows, Stormy Point Village Festiva, Cabins at Green Mountain, Branson Nantucket, Palace View by Spinnaker, Westgate Branson Woods, Bluegreen Falls Village, and French Quarter.
I would seriously doubt that some of the more esteemed resorts like Marriott would be having such problems. But you never know about a specific resort until you actually attend one of their sales meetings to see for yourself.
So my suggestion is this:
Do your homework ahead of time. Don’t rely on emotions to make the decision for you.
If you buy a timeshare in Branson you have 5 days to cancel. Don’t hesitate if you have second thoughts.
You will never get to exchange your timeshare for some exotic destination they promise you. At least not without forking up thousands more.
Buy your timeshare for much less through a timeshare resale broker. You will pay half or less and get the same deed or amenities.
Get everything in writing. If it wasn’t written it wasn’t said!
Do those things and maybe there will be less Branson timeshare bad news!
